We're Back

We're back in Taiwan after five awesome weeks spent with family and friends in the USA.

Here's a quick family update...

Keira's happy to be making daily trips to her favorite neighborhood park again.  She's also fully recovered after coming down with roseola infantum (a high fever followed by a rash).  It wasn't too fun, but we did enjoy the extra cuddles.

Kalan is adjusting to his new teaching job and is really enjoying it.  He's also doing a great job as a part-time stay-at-home dad while I'm at Chinese class each morning.  Each day I come home to find lunch prepared on the table, and all the clean laundry hung up to dry on the balcony!  I could get used to this. ;)

This was yesterday's composition homework entitled "My Day."  Two weeks ago, I didn't even know how to write "I" in Chinese, so you can imagine how most of my free time has been spent recently.

It's good to be back.

America, Here We Come

Tomorrow morning we leave for the USA.  We're so excited to see our American family and friends!

We're not as excited for a 24-hour plane journey with a 9-month-old baby...but it will be worth it.  We can't wait to introduce her to everyone, and to our favorite American things: grassy backyards, bonfires, cheese curds, lakes you can swim in, the Rocky mountains, and starry night skies.

America, here we come.

Uncle Dan Meets His 'Taiwaniece'

We had a great visit with my brother last week.  Here are a some photo highlights.
The best part of the week, hands down, was watching these two play.
Watching the dragon boat races from the bridge

Sightseeing on our rented bicycles

Eating huge ice cream cones and walking along the coast in Danshui

Enjoying some fresh sashimi for lunch

All-you-can-eat hot pot buffet.  Happy college graduation, Dan!

Dan's college friends came over and taught us how to make Taiwanese fried chicken

The "Keira Mobile" made by Dan.  She loved being pushed around in this.

No trip to Taiwan is complete without a bowl of beef noodles.

We miss you already, Uncle Dan.  Come back soon!

Moving Day

Today we're moving out of the studio apartment that's been our home the past two years.

This is the home where our marriage grew in grace.
This is the home where we watched Micah take his first steps.
This is the home where Keira was born.
This is the home where I learned to be content with less.

We're going to miss this place.

We're thankful for our new home, too, which is only a ten-minute walk from here.  Pictures to come!
